What is the PTO?
Flagstaff Academy Charter School was established in 2005 by a group of parents passionate about providing a solid education that prepares students for tomorrow’s world. Today, parents like you, in partnership with administration and teachers, work to create the school we desire for our kids.
Our PTO Mission
The PTO mission is to serve the school community and promote open communication and understanding between parents and staff at Flagstaff Academy.
The Flagstaff Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) coordinates many activities to support the school.
These activities help build community between parents, students and staff, as well as raise funds to support our mission. We help provide educational outreach and experiences, and fundraise to support supplemental education and materials.
We hope you will join us in this mission to create the best Flagstaff Academy possible.
Our Executive Team
PTO Board Members make up our Executive Team. We are volunteers who help make sure all events sponsored by the PTO run smoothly! Each member either leads a team of volunteers or is a member of a team. A “Member At-Large” joins the Executive Team with general responsibilities.
We come from a variety of backgrounds—working parents, stay-at-home caregivers, and community members—all united by our commitment to supporting Flagstaff students, teachers, and families. Whether organizing events, managing communications, or coordinating volunteers, each board member plays a key role in creating the positive impact PTO has on our school community. We’re always excited to welcome new faces and fresh ideas!
Jessica | Vice President
I have a 6th grader at Flagstaff Academy, and we’ve been part of the Flagstaff family since Kindergarten. I first dipped my toes into the PTO world that year and joined the PTO Board when she was in 1st grade. Since then, I’ve worn a lot of different hats and am currently serving as Vice President—helping with our big events, teacher grants, and generally pitching in wherever I can.
By day, I work full-time as an Academic Advisor for transfer students at CU Boulder. By evening (and most weekends), I’m a full-time chauffeur for my very busy kiddo, who takes ful advantage of Flagstaff’s extracurriculars! We’re lucky to have lots of family nearby, and we love spending time with them, especially when camping or ATVing is involved.
I love being part of the PTO because of the people. This community has given so much to our family, and it’s been awesome to build friendships with other parents, teachers, and staff while giving back in meaningful ways.
Andrew | Seceratary & Dining for Dragons Lead
Born and raised in Chicago, I moved to Longmont in 2023 with my wife and two children, currently in 4th and 2nd grade at Flagstaff. I serves as the Secretary and Dining for Dragons team leader for the PTO, a position I’ve held for several years. I became involved in the PTO because I wanted to be a part of the organization at Flagstaff that helps build and shape our community.
My work career spans over two decades as an investment professional, most recently as Managing Partner at RoundTable Healthcare Partners, a private equity firm focused on the health and wellness and healthcare industries. I currently serve as President of the Board of Directors at Flagstaff Academy, and I am also a Director on the Board of Blue Sky Bridge, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating lasting, positive change in the lives of children affected by abuse in Boulder County
I have a passion for the outdoors, specifically mountaineering and endurance events. I recently founded the Flagstaff 14er Club, an after school club for middle school students at Flagstaff Academy who are interested in training for and successfully climbing a fourteen thousand foot mountain in Colorado.
Amber | Treasurer
Hi! I’m Amber Blose, and this is my 8th year as a Flagstaff Academy parent. My son started at Flagstaff in Preschool and is now entering 6th grade. Over the years, I’ve been lucky to be deeply involved in our school community, as a Room Parent for five years and through a variety of PTO roles since 2019, including Wellness Coordinator, Member at Large, and Finance Coordinator.
Professionally, I’m the HR Manager and Business Partner for all Corporate departments at Powder Mountain, a ski resort in Utah. I’m passionate about people, culture, and building strong, supportive communities, whether at work or in our school.
Outside of work, I love hiking, camping, mountain biking, cooking, reading, and traveling. Nature is my happy place, and I love finding ways to recharge and explore new places with my family.
I got involved with the PTO because I truly believe in being part of the culture that shapes our children’s learning experience. I love having a voice in how we support our school, staff, and teachers and being actively involved in the place where my son will grow and thrive through 8th grade. It’s a privilege to help build a positive and connected community here at Flagstaff.
Monet | Fundraising Lead
I’ve had the pleasure of being involved with the Flagstaff Academy PTO over the past year, and I’m honored to continue serving this incredible community. My son has been a proud Dragon since fifth grade and is now thriving in seventh.
With over 11 years of experience on executive boards and a background in running my own interior design business, I bring a deep appreciation for both organization and creativity. Outside of school involvement, you’ll often find me at the pottery wheel, doing pilates with friends, or in the kitchen cooking for the people (and dogs!) I love—including my very supportive husband.
One of my greatest passions is building strong, inclusive communities, and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to help foster connection and support at Flagstaff.
Cassie | Communications Lead
Hi I’m Cassie Koyle! I’m a proud Flagstaff parent of two little dragons—one in kindergarten and one in Pre-K—and this is my third year as part of the school community. This will be my second year on PTO, I’ve contributed my background in website management and marketing to the Communications Team. I love bringing updates to life, creating engaging content, and helping connect parents, caregivers, and sponsors. Whilst chasing tiny dragons I enjoy gardening, spending time outdoors, and roasting s’mores in our backyard.
Cheryl | Social Media Lead
This is my second year on the PTO on the Communications team. My family is new to the Flagstaff community, having moved here last year. I have three children at Flagstaff in grades 8, 6, and 3. Outside of all things PTO, I teach at Mead High School, enjoy running and coaching cross-country through Longmont Rec, and I help out in my daughters’ Girl Scout troops. Having recently relocated to Colorado, I spend my time exploring the outdoor and water activities in the area and taking cross-country camping trips with my family.
Meredith | Hospitality Lead
Hi! I’m Meredith Coursen, and this is my second year as a member of the PTO. I am the Hospitality Team Lead and a member of the Executive Committee. I have two children at Flagstaff Academy—one in 1st grade and one in 2nd grade—and feel so fortunate to be part of this amazing school community.
I’m a licensed physical therapist, though I’m currently not working in that role. In my free time, I enjoy running, skiing, golfing, and spending quality time with my family and friends.
I joined the PTO to become more active in the Flagstaff Academy community and have truly enjoyed getting to know the wonderful staff and FA families through my role in Hospitality. I’m excited to continue supporting our school in meaningful and fun ways!
Alisha | Middle School Socials Lead
My family has been at Flagstaff for 8 amazing years. I have an 8th grader and a 5th grader. I started volunteering as a room parent and then moved into heading up the Middle School socials. I work part time for the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. I also volunteer at our church, Calvary Bible, in the kids ministry. When I have free time I love exploring the mountains through hiking, trail running, and camping. I am also embracing my old lady tendencies with a love for gardening and Liberty puzzles. I enjoy planning social events for the middle school students because I want them to have time to connect with each other in fun and engaging ways. My favorite event is the Spring Dance. All of the hours of preparation are totally worth it when you see over 200 students dancing and having a blast. Flagstaff has become like family for me and I feel blessed to be a part of a community of so many great families.
Katy Rhoades | Dragon Wellness Lead
As a Dragon family with sons in 4th and 5th grade (Dragons since pre-school!), I am excited to join PTO as the leader of our Dragon Wellness committee. I’ve naturally gravitated toward movement, health and wellness my whole life, but have realized that not everyone does! The challenge to meet individuals where they’re at and coach them up in their nutrition and fitness is super exciting to me – and it’s what I do everyday at Training For Warriors Longmont. Outside of this sphere, I love to read theology and personal development books, grow pumpkins of all sizes (aren’t the smallest pumpkins just the cutest!?), and just BE with my family, no matter the activity… but our favorites are paddle-boarding and watching Premier Lacrosse League games. I look forward to working with our PTO, staff and Flagstaff families to support all of our Dragons!
